2nd Health Insurance Group Sues State Over Health Care Contracts

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The State of Minnesota is again being sued by a health insurance group after cutting their contracts to cover low-income residents.

South Country Health Alliance says it stands to lose most of its business next year. It currently provides coverage to 32,000 people on MinnesotaCare or Medicaid.

Earlier this summer, the state said it could save $400 million by going with other companies. But it's refused to release the data to show why certain companies won contracts and others didn't.

South Country is asking the state to share that data.

Another company dropped, UCare, is suing the state and asking for the court to restore some of its contracts.
