20 Years After Disappearance, Community Gathers To Remember Missing TV Anchor
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It has been 20 years since an Iowa TV anchor went missing.
Jodi Huisentruit's disappearance remains a mystery two decades later.
The Long Prairie native went missing before her morning broadcast on June 27, 1995.
A group of retired police officers and media members organized a walk Saturday to keep her story alive.
They were in Mason City, Iowa to pay tribute, and they are not giving up the fight to solve the mystery.
Former WCCO crime reporter Caroline Lowe covered the Huisentruit case for years and says people are still very interested.
"Anniversaries are very important. Very sad anniversary for the family, but it's also an important day for whoever is responsible for taking Jodi," Lowe said. "We will never give up."
Rose Tobin, Huisentruit's former landlord, was also at Saturday's event.
"I'll never forget that day. The FBI came, the police came, they locked up my office door and sat in my apartment to try and get me to remember things," Tobin said. "I'll just never forget it."
Huisentruit's family members released a statement Saturday, which said in part: "She would have been amazed and so appreciative of the love and support that you all shown for her. We miss her every day, and we continue to pray for answers."
