2 Suspects In Assault Case Lead Police On 45 Minute Chase in SW Minn.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police in southwestern Minnesota were involved in a pursuit of two suspects in an assault case that ended just before the South Dakota border.
According to the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Office, Devin Donald Hexum, 21, and Derek Michael Hexum, 19, were being pursued by police for over 45 minutes.
The brothers, of rural Balaton, Minn., are suspects in an assault case that resulted in the shooting of Daniel Scheff on July 18.
Police said the pursuit began just south of Marhsall, Minn. around 3:15 p.m. on Highway 23 and continued several miles lasting over 45 minutes.
Police were able to stop the brothers using a PIT maneuver.
According to officials, police stopped them on County Road 137, roughly a half a mile from the South Dakota border.
The Hexum brother's vehicle rolled onto it's top as a result of the maneuver.
Both were taken to the hospital to treat non-life threatening injuries and then transported to the Yellow Medicine County Jail.
The Hexum brothers are awaiting formal charges in jail.
