2 Snowmobiles Crash Through Ice
BRAINERD, Minn. (WCCO) -- Two snowmobiles broke through the ice between Upper and Lower Long Lake in Crow Wing County early Saturday morning.
According to the county sheriff's office, the snowmobiles broke through at about 2 a.m.
One of the people on one of the snowmobiles was able to get out of the water and walk to a residence nearby, but crews arriving at the scene believed the other was still in the water.
While first responders and other crews searched the scene, the second snowmobiler called to let crews know that he was also out of the water and at a nearby residence.
In all, three people were involved in the incident. All had been drinking, but the sheriff's office said none were arrested.
They were treated by paramedics from a responding ambulance and were released.
