2 Semis Involved In Fatal Crash Near Menomonie
MENOMONIE, Wis. (WCCO/AP) -- Authorities say Interstate 94 was closed Thursday morning just west of Menomonie, Wis. due to a fatal crash involving two semi trucks.
The Wisconsin State Patrol said the crash in Dunn County killed one driver and injured the other. Authorities said the semis were eastbound on Interstate 94 when they collided near Menomonie early Thursday morning.
Troopers closed the eastbound interstate while the accident was investigated and debris was cleared. Traffic was being diverted to U.S. Highway 12 while crews worked to clear the scene.
The area near Menomonie was among the locations socked by a rare May snow event.
Closer to the Twin Cities, the Minnesota Department of Transportation advised no unnecessary travel in Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha and Winona counties, due to heavy snow and reduced visibility.
