2 Minn. House Districts Hold Special Elections
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Two Minnesota House districts are holding special elections to replace lawmakers who resigned after the last election.
One of Tuesday's special elections is in a St. Cloud district. The other is in a district that includes St. Peter, North Mankato and surrounding communities.
The St. Cloud seat was vacated by Republican Steve Gottwalt, who resigned to take a job as a lobbyist for a healthcare provider. The St. Peter-area seat is open after Democrat Terry Morrow left the Legislature for a job in Chicago.
Candidates for the St. Cloud seat are Democrat Joanne Dorsher, Republican Tama Theis and Todd McKee of the Independence Party. The candidates in the other race are Democrat Clark Johnson, Republican Allen Quist and the Independence Party's Tim Gieseke.
