2 Kids In Diapers Discovered Playing On Highway
MOORHEAD, Minn. (WCCO) -- Police in Moorhead say a young brother and sister left a locked home and played in the highway while their parents slept.
According to the police department, the two children -- a 3-year-old boy and his 2-year-old sister -- were seen playing on Highway 75 between 10 and 11 a.m. Wednesday. A passerby called police after seeing them.
Police say the kids used a high chair to unlock their door and go outside.
The highway is typically busy with trucks, authorities said.
Police brought the kids to the police station, and neighbors later helped them find the parents, who had been sleeping at home.
The kids are back with their parents and the department of social services is working with the family.
Officers said the boy in particular demonstrated strong curiosity and was manipulating doors at the police station.
Another call came into the police station during the incident that another two children were seen playing near another road, but parents had already gotten to their children before officers could arrive.
Police said the two incidents served as a strong reminder to parents that they need to keep a close eye on their children during summer months, as many are evidently attracted to all the activity on roads.
