Hamline Students Arrested After Homemade Bomb Explosion
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- Two men are in custody after an incident involving homemade bombs that police say was just a prank that went too far.
Both men, Ross Anderson and Nathan Dobbins, listed on the Hamline University website as students, were arrested early Wednesday, suspected of setting off at least one of the bombs.
Police say they recovered four plastic juice bottles when the men were taken into custody that were filled with some common household items, which created a pressure buildup.
No one was injured in the incident and no damage was done as a result of one of the bombs exploding.
JacQueline Getty, university public relations director, said one bomb was set off near the security office at Hamline. Officers were alerted by the noise and a called-in complaint. The men told police they didn't intend to hurt anyone or cause damage.
The men were booked into Ramsey County Jail. The case will be forwarded to the Ramsey County Attorney's Office for possible charges.
