2 Die, 1 Arrested After 2-Vehicle Crash In Sauk Rapids
SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. (WCCO/AP) — Police say two people have died and a man has been arrested after a two-vehicle crash in central Minnesota.
Sauk Rapids police say the crash happened around 11:20 p.m. Saturday. According to police, an initial investigation found a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old man from St. Cloud struck the side of another moving vehicle in Sauk Rapids.
The two victims killed in the crash have been identified as 51-year-old Kevin Davey and 45-year-old Kathy Davey, both of Hibbing. A third passenger in the crash, 25-year-old Krista Miller, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The 22-year-old St. Cloud man was transported to the hospital and then arrested and taken to jail. Police say alcohol appeared to play a role in the crash. He is identified by authorities as Tom Souvannaphong of St. Cloud. A sample of his blood has been sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for analysis.
The Sauk Rapids Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Sartell Police Department, the Benton County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
