2 Dead, 4 Hurt After Head-On Crash In Otter Tail County
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two people were killed and four others were hurt after a head-on collision in Otter Tail County Wednesday night, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities said the crash happened at about 6:40 p.m. near the area of Highway 108 and County Road 16 in Otter Tail County. When authorities arrived, a 1997 Chrysler Cirrus was headed southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 108 and a 2001 Ford Excursion was unable to avoid the wrong-way driver.
The vehicles hit head-on, causing both to end up in the ditch. The State Patrol said the driver of the Cirrus and a passenger in the car were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was a 34-year-old from Deerk Creek and the passenger was a 26-yeaar-old, also from Deer Creek. Their names have not been released.
The driver of the Ford Excursion and a passenger suffered serious injuries. Two others were hurt in the crash, but the extent of their injuries is not known.
The crash is still under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol with assistance from the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office.
