2 Charged In Stabbing Near Minneapolis Strip Club
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two brothers are facing attempted murder charges after two men were stabbed near a downtown Minneapolis strip club early Saturday morning.
Cornelius Green, 22 of Minneapolis, and 23-year-old Devon Green have each been charged with two counts of attempted murder in connection with the incident. It happened at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday near the Choice Gentlemen's Club at 245 Second Ave. N.
According to the charges, police were flagged down by one of the victims who had been stabbed three times in the head, once in the face, once in the upper arm and once in the lower left side. Their injuries were non-life threatening, and they were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. The second victim was found unresponsive on the sidewalk across from the strip club with a stab wound to the neck. He was taken to HCMC for emergency surgery.
Three witnesses at the scene told police they saw five men beating two others and then jump into a black Cadillac SUV. Police later stopped the vehicle near HCMC and detained four men inside, and authorities learned that the Green brothers had been dropped off there.
Devon Green was being treated for a cut on his hand, which he claimed was from falling on the ice.
Both the two victims and the suspects were at a pizza place at about the same time about two blocks from where the stabbing took place. The victims were walking when they passed the black SUV and an altercation took place. The Green brothers got out of the vehicle, ran up to the victims from behind and began stabbing them, according to the complaint.
The victim who alerted officers had suffered cuts to the face and head. The other victim was stabbed in the neck, his jugular vein was severed and his carotid artery was cut by about 40 percent, the complaint states.
