18-Month-Old Boy Survives 3-Story Fall

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Coon Rapids toddler is uninjured after falling three stories from an apartment window.

"It's amazing," said Coon Rapids Police Capt. John Hattstrom. "It matters how you land and what you land on."

The fall happened on Saturday at the Camelot Square Apartments on 11689 Raven Street.

Hattstrom says 18-month-old Shaydn Haas and his older brother were looking out a window at some kids playing outside. Shaydn's brother left the room and that's when the screen he was leaning on gave way.

"Fortunately the child landed on a grassy area," Hattstrom said.

The toddler was taken to Mercy Hospital and released the same day.

The little boy's parents are watching him closely to make sure he doesn't have a concussion or a delayed injury. Shaydn's mother is calling him a "miracle baby".
