15-Year-Old Pedestrian Injured In St. Cloud Hit-And-Run
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (WCCO) -- A 15-year-old girl is seriously hurt after being hit by a pickup truck that fled the scene on Monday.
Officers were dispatched to an emergency room at the St. Cloud Hospital at about 9:22 p.m. for an apparent hit-and-run accident.
Investigators say a 15-year-old girl, from Clearwater, Minn., was struck by a vehicle while walking along 25th Street Southeast, near the intersection of 14 1/2 Avenue Southeast in St. Cloud.
The teen's foot was crushed and she was rushed to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment. Investigators are not releasing the girl's name because the investigation is ongoing.
"There was one other 15-year-old witness that was with the female victim. From those two, we were able to get quite a bit of information about the suspect vehicle," said Sgt. Martin Sayre, of the St. Cloud Police Department.
The driver, described as a white man between the ages of 20 and 40 with a shaved head, allegedly fled the scene without stopping.
Police say it is unlikely, but possible, that the driver did not realize he hit the teen.
The vehicle is described as a black, smaller Dodge single-cab pickup truck with a white Dodge decal on the tailgate, loud exhaust and a missing driver's side mirror.
The teen has been released from the hospital.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the St. Cloud Police Department at 320-251-1200.
