150 Troops Return To St. Cloud On Sunday From Iraq
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) -- Almost 150 U.S. Army Reserve soldiers arrived in St. Cloud on Sunday after a yearlong deployment in Iraq and Kuwait.
A welcome home event was held at the St. Cloud Armory. The returning soldiers are in the 367th Engineer Battalion. Its mission was constructing buildings, surveying and providing other support services, such as transportation.
While the battalion was in Kuwait one of its units -- the 492nd Engineer Company -- was shifted to Afghanistan, making it only the second time a U.S. Army Reserve unit was deployed from one theater of war to another in a single tour.
About 150 soldiers from 492nd are scheduled to return to Mankato on Monday.
