Cassandra Miller lost everything when the tornado struck her apartment building on Sunday.
"Everything is gone. And they came and condemned our building with all of our belongings in there, and we had no time to get anything out," she said.
Miller is pregnant and said she and her fiancé, Gerald Duncan, and their children are sleeping in their car or at the Armory.
"We are hoping that we will be able to do something because my child is on his way any day now," Duncan said.
More than 300 staff and volunteers were on hand to help the residents and small businesses affected by the tornado. The center provides basic essentials, public assistance, resources and information to people working to get their lives back to normal.
Paula Haywood is Human Services Manager for Hennepin County.
"People are resilient here. And we've been able to work with them and help them navigate resources and basically they have been very thankful," she said.
The center is located at Farview Recreation Center at 621 29th Ave North. The center will be open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
