10 People Displaced After Apartment Fire In Fridley
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The American Red Cross is assisting 10 people Sunday morning after a four-unit apartment fire in Fridley, Minn.
Authorities received a call about the fire around 7:50 a.m. Sunday but at that time, it was for a shed that was on fire. Upon arrival, crews saw the shed fire had spread to the apartment building on the 5400 block of 5th Street Northeast.
Fridley Fire Chief John Berg said the fire spread to one unit and then moved up into the attic, where it quickly spread throughout the complex.
Columbia Heights Fire Department assisted Fridley crews to put out the fire.
No one was injured.
The Anoka County Fire Investigation team is investigating the fire. At this point, it appears to be accidental. However, there is no official cause at this time.
Red Cross officials say they are providing lodging, food, clothing and seasonal clothing for those who were affected.
