1 Dies In Crash On I-94 Near Stillwater
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One person has died in a crash on Interstate 94 near Highway 95, which is near the Wisconsin border, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities said the incident happened on eastbound I-94 at about 4:50 p.m. A 2010 Ford pick-up truck was driving eastbound on I-94 when it sideswiped a 1998 Chevrolet pick-up. The Ford pick-up then went off the road and into a median and traveled for about a quarter of a mile before it landed on its roof on the right shoulder of southbound Highway 95, which runs underneath a bridge on I-94.
The State Patrol said the driver of the vehicle was found dead at the scene, but authorities said it appears the driver did not die of injuries sustained in the crash. The crash caused a significant back-up on Interstate 94 in both directions.
The name of the victim has not been released at this time. The Minnesota State Patrol said the cause of the crash is under investigation at this time, and the Washington County Sheriff's Office is assisting with the case.
