1 Hurt In Stearns County Crash Involving Tractor
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – At least one person was hurt Tuesday when a car hit a tractor and then was side-swiped by oncoming traffic in Sauk Centre, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities responded to a crash involving multiple vehicles at about 8:10 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of County Road 17 and 385th Avenue in Sauk Centre. When they arrived, a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country van driven by a 70-year-old Alexandria man was headed westbound on County Road 17 just after sunset when it hit a tractor pulling a 20 foot wagon waiting for oncoming traffic to pass.
The tractor was being driven by a 14-year-old boy from Sauk Centre at the time of the crash. Upon impact, the van was pushed into oncoming traffic and side-swiped before coming to rest in a ditch. The man driving the van was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The boy driving the tractor and the driver of the other vehicle in the crash, a 52-year-old Long Prairie man, refused medical treatment at the scene. The crash is still under investigation by Sauk Centre Police with assistance from the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.
