1 Dead, 1 Hospitalized After Car Crashes Into Tree In Eagan; Drunk Driving Suspected
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One man was hurt and another killed early Tuesday morning in a single-car crash in Eagan.
The Eagan Police Department say the crash happened shortly before 2:30 a.m. on the 4000 block of Slater Road, on the city's west side. A car veered off the road and slammed into a tree.
Two men were inside the vehicle. The passenger, 43-year-old Michael William Renlund, was found dead at the scene, police say.
The driver, a 28-year-old man, was brought to Regions Hospital for treatment. Investigators say he was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. Police obtained a warrant for a blood draw.
The Minnesota State Patrol is reconstructing the crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
