Zimmerman Objects To Medical Records Subpoena
ORLANDO (CBSMiami) – George Zimmerman, who is accused of second-degree murder for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, has objected to a prosecution request for his medical records.
Zimmerman asked a judge in Central Florida this week to stop a subpoena for his medical records and a hearing on the issue has been set for Friday. Zimmerman said the request was too broad and will include material that is irrelevant to the case.
Under Florida law, if the records are released to prosecutors, they will be released to the public. Zimmerman asked the judge to review the medical records and decide what, if any, should be released.
Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty and claims self-defense in the shooting of Martin.
