Zimmerman Helps Family After Rollover Accident
ORLANDO (CBSMiami/AP) – A family of four who got into an accident over weekend got a helping hand from an unexpected driver.
The Seminole County Sheriff's Office said the family was in a blue Ford Explorer when the driver lost control, ran off the road and rolled over in the area of I-4 and State Road 46 in Sanford.
When deputies arrived they found George Zimmerman and another man helping the family to get out of the overturned vehicle.
Zimmerman did not see the crash, but said he jumped in to help when he came upon it.
Charged with second degree murder in the death of 17-year old Trayvon Martin, Zimmerman was acquitted earlier this month. His acquittal prompted rallies nationwide calling for a civil rights probe, and the case has sparked debate about race and self-defense laws.
