YouTube Sensation Lands Trip To Orange Bowl
MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A young man with Down Syndrome, who became a viral video sensation, is in South Florida for the Orange Bowl.
He doesn't start classes until next fall, but Rion Holcombe, 20, is already the Clemson Tigers' biggest fan.
More than 1.7 million people have viewed a YouTube video of Rion opening an acceptance letter to the ClemsonLIFE program. It's a two-year program for young adults with intellectual disabilities.
The video shows Rion with a huge smile asking "I got accepted?" He continues, "My gosh. This is crazy!"
The viral video won Rion a trip to South Florida and tickets to the Orange Bowl. It also won the hearts of just about everyone who saw it. "He really has inspired a lot of people," said Rion's mom, Susan Holcombe, adding, "We've heard from people all over the world who didn't know programs like this existed."
Rion says the acceptance letter blew his mind. "My heart was full of joy," he said.
During his time in South Florida Rion even got a football helmet and a chance to meet some of the Clemson players.
