Wozniacki Eliminated From Ericsson
KEY BISCAYNE (CBS4) - Tennis fans hoping to get a look at Caroline Wozniacki at the Sony Ericsson Open are out of luck. The world's number 1 ranked female tennis player was eliminated by Andrea Petkovic in the fourth round Monday, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.
Petkovic hit an ace on match point to finish off the biggest win in her career. Petkovic ended up dancing at the net in celebration of her accomplishment.
For Wozniacki, she won't lose her number 1 ranking through mid-April. Wozniacki hasn't won a Grand Slam tournament which has led to some criticizing the women's ranking system.
Petkovic ranked a career-best 23rd and is the first German to reach the women's quarterfinals at Key Biscayne since Anke Huber in 2001.
