Former World Champion Boxer Hector 'Macho' Camacho Dies
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (CBSMiami) – Boxer Hector 'Macho' Camacho died after being taken off life support, the director of the Centro Medico trauma center in Puerto Rico said Saturday.
CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald reports Dr. Ernesto Torres says Camacho went into cardiac arrest in the pre-dawn hours Saturday. He was then taken off life support and died shortly thereafter.
Camacho was declared brain dead on Thursday after being shot in the face in his hometown of Bayamon.
The former world champion was 50.
