Word To Your Mother...Vanilla Ice Named Citizen Of The Year

WELLINGTON (CBSMiami/AP) — It's winter, well winter for South Florida, so what better time to honor ice? In this case, the honor is going to rapper/reality TV star "Vanilla Ice."

Ice, whose real name is Rob Van Winkle, has been named "Outstanding Citizen of the Year" by the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. He'll receive his official award at an event later in February.

Chamnber officials say they will honor Van Winkle for his "spirit of giving and dedication" to Wellington, a Palm Beach County town he has called home for more than a decade.

Van Winkle has contributed to several local charities and films his DIY Network reality show "The Vanilla Ice Project" in Wellington.

The chamber will "stop, collaborate, and listen" before presenting the award to the rapper of "Ice Ice Baby" fame at a Feb. 26 event.
