Woman's Body Discovered In Backyard Of Foreclosed Home
DANIA BEACH (CBSMiami) – House-hunting can sometimes turn up bad smells, but rarely one this much.
On Friday, a woman's body was discovered by someone looking at a Dania Beach home up for sale, CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald reported.
"Someone who was looking at the house" called 911 around 2:30 p.m. to report the body, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
The dead woman has not been identified, and detectives are investigating her death as a possible homicide.
The property, at 2951 SW 46th Ct., has been on the market for more than 60 days and is in foreclosure, said real estate agent Brigette Jobson with Exclusively Real Estate, which is showing the house.
Jobson didn't know anything about the former owner, but said the house was "already vacant when it was foreclosed."
The real estate agent described the neighborhood as "more of an investment community, meaning that there are not many homeowners."
She said the property has been shown an average of 20 times per month since it has been on the market, mostly to people who are looking to buy the house to rent it out.
The house had a lock box, Jobson said, though any licensed real estate agent could call up the property profile and get the combination.
Because the house is in foreclosure, little has been done to it except having the lawn mowed and shrubbery trimmed, she said.
"The home is in its original state," Jobson said. "It's not easy to move into a home like that."
