FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - A woman accused of crashing her car into a Lauderdale Lakes home could be out of jail soon.
On Friday bond was set at a thousand dollars for 21-year old Nicole Bailey of Coral Springs who is charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.
Bailey's mother disputes the charge and said her daughter did not leave the scene. She says Nicole was disoriented from the crash and wandered around the area briefly.
The crash happened just before 2 a.m. Thursday. Bailey's car veered off the road and crashed through the living room, dining room and kitchen of the house on NW 39th Street and NW 52nd Avenue, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
The two people who live the home were asleep when the crash happened. They were taken to the hospital and treated for minor cuts and scratches from falling debris.
When paramedics and sheriff's deputies arrived Bailey was not in the car. She was spotted by neighbors wandering around the neighborhood in her bra and pants asking if anyone had seen her Volkswagen Jetta, according to sheriff's spokesman Mike Jachles.
"I saw the girl running down the street, sprinting," said Kimberly Auld. "The girl then walked back and was like, 'Where's my tab?' Maybe she thought she was still in a bar. She was just saying she had no idea who had her car."
Bailey's family said she was on her way home from work, as a server, when the accident happened. They believe she was disoriented from the crash and exploding airbag.
Auld said the strange behavior continued.
"She was like, 'I've been looking for my car all day and I don't even know where my car is. I don't know how I ended up here.' So we're like, 'Your car is in my neighbor's house, like it's right there, how do you not know where your car is?'"
Eventually she walked back to the scene of the crash and was taken into custody. Jachles said deputies found marijuana and Bailey's ID in the car.
The crash knocked out two support beams in the home, a building inspector declared it unsafe to live in.
