Grandmother Shot While Sleeping At Home

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Police are investigating a shooting which sent a grandmother to the hospital in critical condition.
A family member said 50-year old Sabrina Rozier was shot in the forearm and will remain in the hospital overnight for observation but her injuries are not life threatening.
She'll soon be able to return home, though she may not want to go, after she was shot up in her home as she slept.
Just before 10 p.m. in Liberty City, a man and a young boy pass by a surveillance camera on Northwest 65th Street and 7th Avenue. Three minutes later, a dark car rolls up to a home, stops, and the video shows flashes in the night. The driver takes off, and minutes later police and fire rescue rush to the grandmother's home.
"Everybody got down on the ground. That's bad. We don't know where they were shooting at," said neighbor Lisa Leonard.
Police don't know the motive for the drive-by shooting, but it happened while a 15-year old, 12 year old and four year old were inside the home.
Whoever committed this crime was not worried about saving ammunition. They hit the house well over 30 times and they were firing wildly. Hitting the tree several times and anything else that got in the way.
A family member who didn't want to be identified said the wounded grandmother is a longtime county bus driver.
"She loves her grandkids. Her life revolves around her grandkids, and her job, and her children, she loves them," said the family member.
She said Rozier has lived in the house for six decades with no trouble until this incident. She wants the shooters caught. So do neighbors who are furious that children were so close to gun violence again.
Police have not released any motive for the shooting, though neighbors and family members do not believe Rozier was the intended target.
Police believe the drive by shooter's car is a black Nissan Naxima.
