Witness Describes Stabbing That Set Off Wild Police Chase

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- New details have emerged after a violent attack that left a woman stabbed and a police pursuit through Miami-Dade County.
"A lot of blood, a lot of blood... a lot of blood," said a neighbor, recalling the moment he saw the victim stumble out of her Lauderhill home. "She came out screaming, help me, help me, he's trying to kill me."
Keith Antonio Michel, 34, was charged for stabbing his girlfriend Thursday night.
Police said the following morning, he was also behind the wheel of her car that forced a dramatic chase through the streets of Miami that began at N.W. 7th Street and 13th Street.
When Miami Police spotted the red Mercury and tried to pull the suspect over, they said he stepped on the gas and the chase was on. At one point, he stopped abruptly and tried to run over an officer, who then opened fire. But the driver took off again.
"During the course of that pursuit, two Miami police officers discharged their firearms," said Chief Rodolfo Llanes.
A caravan of police cruisers chased the car as it weaved through traffic, nearly clipping several other cars.
The chase finally ended violently behind a restaurant at the corner of N.W. 11th Avenue and 119th Street. More than a dozen officers drew their guns and surrounded the car.
Desperate and trapped, Michel reversed and almost ran over an officer and his K-9, slamming into two cars before police could finally pull him out.
"It was a vicious attack and we're very thankful that this violent individual is off the streets," said Lt. Greg Solowsky of the Lauderhill Police Dept. "And you saw what he did when the police officers tried to stop him. So based on his actions between yesterday and today, he is extremely dangerous."
Michel's extensive criminal history includes grand theft and battery on an officer. He faces a similar charge in Dade county in his attempt to flee officers.
In Broward, he faces attempted murder.
His girlfriend was left in critical condition.
