Winter Taking One More Shot At S. Florida
SUNRISE (CBS4) - South Florida woke up to much cooler air Tuesday morning after a cold front passed through the area overnight. But the mercury hasn't finished dropping as winter takes one more shot at the area over the next 48 hours.
The cold air is coming from a large polar high pressure area that has settled into the Southeastern United States.
As a result, daytime highs will struggle to rise out of the 60's and overnight low temperatures are expected to bottom out in the low to mid 40's by Wednesday morning.
The record low at Miami International Airport is 46 degrees set in 1947. The record appears to be in jeopardy as CBS4 Weather Control is forecasting a low of 45 degrees with lows around 40 expected in the western suburbs of Miami-Dade and Broward County.
Temperatures should start to rebound a little by the weekend with high's possibly back into the low-80's.
