Winter Storm Forcing Flight Delays, Cancellations
MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A huge snow storm that is expected to leave up to 3 feet of snow from New York City to Boston and beyond starting Friday has already canceled more than 2,600 flights through Saturday, including flights from South Florida.
As of 10:00 p.m. Friday, which is the last report Miami International Airport has issued, there are 14 cancelled arrival flights at Miami International Airport and 32 departures from Boston, New York (both airports), Newark, Hartford, CT and Toronto, Canada. The airlines affected are American, Delta, United and Air Canada.
As of 4:45 p.m., Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport is reporting 44 cancelled departures and 9 delayed departures plus 25 cancelled arrivals and 22 delayed arrivals.
Bob and Pat Klopfer told CBS4's Natalia Zea that they're trying to get home and were told they may not get there until next week.
"We came in last night from the Dominican Republic, our flight was late, we missed our connections and now we can't get to Hartford, Connecticut. They're telling us maybe Tuesday,' said Pat Klopfler.
Linda Von Iderstein is running too.
"We came a day early from our vacation so we could sort of get ahead of the storm," Von Iderstein said
Her husband even jumped on a different airline so one of them could make it home to Boston.
"It's a race," she said.

Airport officials said if you have a flight out this weekend to an airport in the Northeast, you need to check with your airline before heading to the airport.
