Winter Kicks In Everywhere But South Florida
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Winter officially kicked off this past weekend with the Winter Solstice on Saturday, but it won't feel like winter at all today across South Florida with temperatures well above our average for this time of year.
South Florida woke up Monday morning with temperatures in the upper 70s. The average low for this time of year is 62 degrees.
High temperatures this afternoon will could reach a possible record with temperatures in the low to mid 80s.
It's a very warm and humid start to the week.
A few showers moved through this morning and there may be some more passing showers on the breeze throughout the day with a 20-percent chance of rain as a pre-frontal trough pushes across the Panhandle and into Florida later today.
Tuesday for Christmas Eve, there is a 30-percent chance of rain and temperatures will not be as warm courtesy of a cold front. Highs will be in the upper 70s.
Once the front clears, Christmas morning will be a bit cooler with lows in the 60s and highs will be back to normal and milder with the mid to upper 70s.
A few spotty showers can't be ruled out Christmas Day.
Later in the week, South Florida will enjoy highs in the upper 70s with a 20-percent chance of rain.
