Windshield Cracks On Flight Carrying UF Track Team
GAINESVILLE (CBSMiami) – A scare in the air for the University of Florida's men's outdoor track and field team.
On Saturday they were flying home after winning the NCAA Championship in Des Moines, Iowa when the windshield on the charter plane cracked at 37,000 feet, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
The plane, which was carrying UF's team and along with teams from Alabama, Georgia, Florida State and Mississippi State, landed in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
UF's sports information director Amanda Brooks told the paper it was a bit of a rough landing.
The team was unaware of the cracked windshield until after the plane landed.
The team was forced to wait until another flight could be lined up to take them home. They arrived back in Gainesville around 8 a.m. Sunday morning.
