Wildlife Officials Searching For Owner Of Capsized Boat
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - Fearing the worst, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has asked for the public's help in finding the operator of a bass boat found overturned in a canal off the south side of Alligator Alley.
The flipped boat was found Saturday night west of the mile marker 40 boat ramp in Broward County. Debris, including food and fishing gear, was found floating near the scene. The key was in the ignition and in the "on" position.
FWC and law enforcement officers searched the land and water around where the boat was found but couldn't find anyone who claimed it belonged to them. They also searched all the boat ramps along the Alley but did not locate a vehicle or trailer that could have transported the capsized boat.
Attempts to locate the boat's current owner were unsuccessful; the boat's registration expired 10 years ago.
Anyone with information is asked to call the FWC's Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-3922.
