MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A wild overnight two county chase came to an end in Hialeah Gardens.
The chase began after an armed robbery just before 2:30 a.m. at an apartment complex at W 9th Avenue and 29th Street in Hialeah.
"They robbed a man on the sidewalk at gunpoint. They climbed back into their van and they fled the area," said Hialeah police spokesman Carl Zogby.
Officers in the area spotted the black minivan and the chase was on. It first headed south to U.S. 1 in Kendall before turning north and heading into Broward, through Pembroke Pines and Miramar. It then turned south again.
Officers chased the van for about an hour. It all came to an end on NW 103 Street at 82nd Avenue in Hialeah Gardens when the van crashed into a Hialeah officer's squad car. That officer was treated for minor injuries.
All six suspects were taken into custody immediately. Police said the three males and three females are all juveniles.
Police suspect this group may have been involved in multiple robberies across Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
"They totally fit the description of armed robberies in their cities. So we may very well have foiled and caught up with some very dangerous, reckless juveniles," Zogby said.
