HIALEAH (CBSMiami) – A South Florida man is working to cope with the loss of his wife. What he can't cope with is the thought of the Orlando shooter being buried in the same cemetery as her, as a new report claims.
"I've been sad over the past couple of weeks because she's the closest person to me and leaving now I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep knowing that," said Andre Wade.
Still getting used to the fact that his young wife is gone and his children now without their mother, Wade says the news that the Orlando shooter is possibly buried in the same cemetery as his wife is too much.
"It's more on top of my grief right now," he said.
Horse riders in the area say they got word Wednesday morning that Omar Mateen would be buried at the Muslim Cemetery in Hialeah Gardens.
"Yeah, they buried this afternoon in there, the guy who made the shooting in Orlando," said Andy Rodriguez.
USA today is reporting that Mateen's death certificate states that his body was prepared for burial at a funeral home on the property of the Muslim Cemetery of South Florida.
A burial tent sits over a grave, but calls to the cemetery and funeral home to confirm Mateen is there have gone unanswered.
Wade, who is Catholic, buried his wife here out of respect for her family. But he says if the mass shooter is at the cemetery, he doesn't want his wife there.
"That troubles me now because I'm not sure that this is the only Muslim burial ground," he said, "but if that is the case, my personal feelings, I would want to have her exhumed and taken somewhere else."
He says this is the last thing his family should be dealing with.
"I have two kids and I just called them and I told them that there might be a chance of that being so and they're not happy," he added.
