Election Day: What You Need To Know Before Voting

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- With election day upon us, voters who have not cast their ballots already will have to head to the polls on Tuesday.

In Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties the polls opened at 7 a.m.

First, you need to know where to go. To find out where you need to go to cast your ballot, click here.  For those in Miami-Dade click here or Broward click here.

Polls close at 7 p.m. If you are in line by the time the polling place closes, you will be allowed to vote.

To vote, you'll need to bring a valid ID that has your name, photograph, and signature. The ID is used to confirm your identity, not verify your voter ID number or address.

You can bring the following IDs:

  • Florida Driver's License
  • Florida identification card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles
  • United States Passport
  • Debit or credit card
  • Military identification
  • Student identification
  • Retirement center identification
  • Public assistance identification
  • Neighborhood Association identification
  • Florida concealed-weapon licenses
  • Veteran Health Identification Cards issued by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Government-issued employee identification

If you're voting on a paper ballot, make sure you completely fill in the oval next to the candidate of your choice. Be sure to review both sides of the ballot before casting your vote.
