Chill Down On The Way After A Blustery Sunday
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Cooler temps are on the way after a rather blustery Sunday afternoon.
Early Sunday the National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory for South Florida through 5 p.m. Just before 3 p.m., the advisory was canceled as the winds settled a bit.
Winds in the 20s and 30s, with some higher gusts, blew across the area in the late morning and early afternoon hours. At 10:47 a.m., Ft. Lauderdale Executive Airport recorded a wind gust of 49 mph during a passing shower. At 10:50 a.m. the Coast Guard station in Key West recorded a gust of 48 mph. Just after 11 a.m. a gust of 46 mph was logged at Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport.
The reason for the gusty wind was a cold front pushing across our area. After the front passes we will see a drop in our temperatures. On Sunday look for a high of 86 degrees under mostly cloudy skies with a 50 percent chance of showers and slight chance thunderstorms. Sunday night will be partly cloudy with lows in the upper 40s inland and low to mid 50s near the coast. The wind will shift from the North-Northwest at 5-15 mph to the South-Southwest after midnight.
On Monday, skies will be clear and the highs will be around 75 degrees. Monday night, expect clear skies with a low in the mid-50s.
