Watches, Jewelry Taken In Mayor's Burglary
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A resourceful thief, or thieves, stole thousands of dollars from a Doral jewelry store right under the noses of mall security.
Overnight, burglars cut a hole in the roof of the International Mall in Doral to gain access to the Mayor's jewelry store inside. Lucy Tamajon, a spokeswoman, said they picked the lock of a glass case and stole everything inside.
Tamajon said the store's alarm went off but her department never dispatched any officers to check it out. She said instead, the mall's security guards went by the store, didn't see anything wrong and called the alarm company to say everything was okay.
It was only in the morning when the store's employees arrived for the day did they realize something had happened.
