Want To Be A Cop? Job Fair Could Help
MIRAMAR (CBSMiami) - Out of work, or just want to make a change? You might want to consider a law enforcement job, and if you're not sure, an entire forum was held Saturday to help you make up your mind.
A free career fair will be held in Broward County for anyone interested in learning about jobs in law enforcement, including security, private investigation and juvenile justice.
The Criminal Justice and Security Forum started Saturday morning in Miramar, and ends at 2 p.m.
Topics will include Florida's employment outlook for criminal justice careers; challenges including terrorism, globalization and technology advances; and the education and skills required to work in the field.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs in law enforcement, corrections, court administration and security are expected to grow by 10 percent through 2018. Opportunities for private detectives and investigators are expected to increase by 22 percent over the next 10 years.
The forum is hosted by the University of Phoenix at the Miramar Learning Center, 2400 W. 145th Avenue.
