Wanna-be Rock Stars Wanted At "Rock Of Ages" Casting Call
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) -- Grab your '80s rock star regalia and head out to Fort Lauderdale on Saturday. Movie makers want you to be in their movie.
The producers of the Tom Cruise movie "Rock of Ages" are holding a casting call for extras and want you to come dressed in your best '80s rocker garb.
The film takes place in the late '80s and is based on the Broadway musical of the same name. Alec Baldwin plays the owner of a fictional rock club on the Sunset Strip. Julianne Hough stars as an aspiring actress opposite Diego Boneta as her rocker love interest. Director Adam Shankman's star-studded cast also includes Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J. Blige, Russell Brand, Bryan Cranston, Paul Giamatti and Malin Akerman.
Filming begins later this month in Fort Lauderdale and Miami. The film is being produced by New Line Cinema, with Warner Bros. Pictures handling worldwide distribution.
Miami Beach-based Ellen Jacoby Casting is holding an open extras casting call on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Empire Ballroom at the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale/Airport Hotel (1825 Griffin Road at I-95).
"Rock of Ages" is an arena-rock love story told through the heart-pounding hits of Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, Reo Speed Wagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake and many more.
Casting agents will be looking for people who dress the part of mid-'80s rockers, as well as those who can play straight-laced, 35- to 45-year-old anti-rockers in ultra conservative '80s garb. Bring a photo (it does not have to be professionally shot), with your name, stats and phone number on it.
Producers also are looking for cars from the era, so bring a photo of your car too if it applies.
