Wade Undergoes Knee Surgery
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami Heat superstar guard Dwyane Wade underwent surgery on his troublesome left knee Monday and will now need up to eight weeks to fully recover.
Wade suffered through major knee problems throughout the playoffs including having fluid removed from the knee during the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Indiana Pacers.
The knee became so troublesome that the All-Star guard required treatment several times a week to help keep him on the court until the Heat hoisted the championship trophy after beating the Oklahoma City Thunder four games to one.
Before the injury, Wade was hoping to join Chris Bosh and LeBron James on the 2012 Men's Olympic team. But, Wade opted for surgery with the hope he'll be ready for training camp next season.
Bosh will also miss the Olympics as he recovers from a lower abdominal injury suffered in the Pacers series.
