Wade On LeBron Leaving, What's Next For The Team
HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) -- Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade spoke out for the first time about his reaction to LeBron James leaving the Heat and what's next for the team.
Wade spoke to the media, and to the dozens of men taking part in his fantasy basketball camp at the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood.
He said no one knows for sure how the Miami Heat will fare without LeBron but he made it clear he's up for the challenge.
"It's no secret, obviously, there's been a change in how we looked the last four years. As for the Miami Heat, I think our ownership has done a great job so far of trying to not replace, but recover from that," said Wade.
Wade said he knew deep down that LeBron was leaving, while the two were in Las Vegas just before the official announcement.

"We had a long flight back from Vegas. I probably knew then without him telling me at that moment. You can tell where someone's heart is and what they're thinking. I kind of knew in that moment and me as his friend, I'm supportive. As crazy as that might sound, i'm supportive of my friend, of doing what makes them happy," said Wade.
He said LeBron called him the next day and told him. He did not ask LeBron to stay and instead wished him well but as team captain, Wade knows much of the team's future relies on him, and Chris Bosh who recently resigned with the team.
"We've got work to do but I'm confident in the guys we have," said Wade.
He said he's working out, eating right, and slimming down for the next season while also enjoying his time off.
"I'm lighter right now than I was when I came to training camp last year but I'm not where I want to be. I'm not there yet," said Wade.
He's been traveling, preparing for his wedding next month, and hosting events like the fantasy basketball camp.
Lebron made an appearance at the camp last year. That's not expected this time around.
"I'm going to go out on a limb and say he won't be here this year," said Wade. "Just going to take a wild guess."
Wade seemed upbeat and said he and Lebron are still good friends. He even mentioned that he's looking forward to shooting more with Lebron gone but he admitted, for better or for worse, there's no doubt the Miami Heat team will be different without the King.
