VP Biden Tours Miami-Dade School
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Two days after 2012 GOP front-runners Mitt Romney and Rick Perry were in Miami, Vice-President Joe Biden will be making a swing through South Florida Friday.
Biden arrived in South Florida Friday morning and went to a private fundraiser. Seats were not cheap to sit with the veep, running $10,000 a piece.
Biden then made his way to G.K.E Sabal Palm Elementary in North Miami Beach.
Biden was at the school to push for Congress to push the American Jobs Act. The bill features roughly $25 billion for school infrastructure improvement across the country.
Sabal Palm was originally built in 1952 and multiple classes are held in portable classrooms that are more than 10 years old.
Biden told a class of students that if the bill passed, Miami-Dade County would receive $267 million to modernize schools. The vice-president also said the money would give students the classrooms they deserve and help the overall community.
Nationwide, the bill would help state renovate one-third of all public schools.
After the school visit, Biden was scheduled to attend a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee in Miami. Tickets are available for anywhere between $2,500 and $10,000 a person.
