Violent Crime Ring Arrested In Sweetwater
SWEETWATER (CBSMiami) - When brought in for questioning, Alois Cea-Gonzalez lunged over the interrogation table and pummeled Lead Detective Octavio Oliu with his fists.
Cea-Gonzalez is one of eight crime-ring members arrested by Sweetwater Police over the last several days.
The men were seen on surveillance video breaking into General Procurement on 112th Avenue on June 30. They broke into a company truck and rammed in a rolling garage door.
The eight men stole computers and related parts valued at an estimated $80,000. A warehouse manager alerted police after witnessing the burglary live via remote surveillance video.
Minutes later, Sweetwater Police Officer Jacksonville Palaez saw Orestes Chacon, another ring member, driving a General Procurement company truck near Dolphin Mall. Once Chacon saw he was being stopped, he crashed into a tree in the mall's parking lot and took off on foot. Chacon was caught soon after by Officer Palaez.
Each of the crime ring members were charged with one count of unoccupied burglary and grand theft auto. Cea-Gonzalez was also charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting with violence.
After attacking Detective Oliu, both he and Cea-Gonzalez were taken to Kendall Regional Hospital, where they were cleared after evaluation.
