Funeral To Be Held For Murdered Teen; Shooter Still At Large
NORTH MIAMI (CBS4)- The family of a North Miami teen murdered at her home is holding a viewing for the 15-year-old followed by her funeral Sunday.
The viewing for Ashley Chow will be held at Poitier Funeral Home at 2321 Northwest 62nd Street in Miami at 3 p.m.
On January 2, Chow, 25-year-old Harlen Peralta and her friend, 35-year-old Israel Rincon, were shot and killed inside the house at 480 N.W. 134th Street.
Police initially thought this was a case of murder-suicide, but are now saying it was a triple homicide and they, too, are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
Meanwhile, the girl's mother, Audrey Hansack, pleaded to the public in helping to find the shooter or shooters involved in the case.
"She was only 15-years-old. I can't believe it," Hansack said. "She's my angel, she's in heaven right now, she's in heaven."
The victims are remembered at a makeshift memorial outside their home with photos, roses, candles and more than 20 Teddy bears, along with a series of notes and cards.
Katia Jean-Michel, a neighbor, said she's shocked and wants to know why the shooting happened.
"Ashley was a very nice girl. This is a bad scene, such a waste," she said. "For stupid reasons, this happened. I have a lot of questions. I'd like to find out what happened. That would be good for the family and the neighborhood."
Hansack said she also has questions.
"North Miami Police are not telling us what's going on," she said.
In response, North Miami Police Major Neal Cuevas said they are releasing limited information while the investigation is in motion. He said even discussing a potential motive could harm the investigation.
"We want the public to provide us with information," Cuevas said, "no matter how insignificant they think this might be."
Fighting back tears, Hansack said, "Call the Police if you know anything. Someone must know something. Someone must know something."
