Video Released, Reward Increased In Super Bowl Sunday Homicide

MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) – New surveillance tape released by police shows a striking image: two gunmen bursting out of their car with high-powered weapons and unleashing a volley of bullets at a Super Bowl party.

The tape shows the faces of the gunmen as they take the life of a 25-year-old father and wound his father and brother.

Initially, you can see the red, mid size four-door car pulling up to a home with gunfire coming from a passenger side window. Then the driver is seen jumping out and dashing towards the victims. One of his passengers slides out the driver's side of the car and blasts away with his weapon as well.

The shooting happened shortly before 6 p.m. at a home in the 2300 blocks of Northwest 204th Street.

At a news conference, Miami Gardens Police Chief Matthew Boyd, Mayor Oliver Gilbert and the family of the victim, Brandon Bryant, all asked for the public's help with this troubling case as police showed the new tape.

Rev. Eric Readon of the New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church said his church would match the Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers reward of a $1,000, meaning there is now a $2,000 reward.

"Today this is somebody else's life but tomorrow this could be your family," said Rev. Readon. "We need everyone to step and pick up the phone and call Crime Stoppers. Let's stop the no snitch policy."

Police are not saying if Bryant was target. Records show he has been arrested before on charges including aggravated battery and grand theft.

His family says he was known in the music industry as "Beans." He helped develop and promote music artists.

"I'm asking as an aunt, as a grieving family member, as a member of this community, having been born and bred here in Miami Gardens. For anyone who knows anything, they should come forward so justice can be served."

"We're asking for you to not do anything beyond your comfort zone except for telling the truth," she said. "We need you to come forward. I grew up in this neighborhood and anyone who sees this video will know these people."

"It would mean a lot to me to see this solved," Packer said. "This has got to stop. This is a problem for the city of Miami Gardens. This should be a place that is ours. This is our community. This should be safe."

"This is just unacceptable," she added.

"We know that whoever see this video knows these individuals who acted so recklessly in taking a life," said Mayor Gilbert.

Chief Boyd said there were three suspects who took off eastbound in their car on Northwest 204th Street.

If you can help Miami Gardens Police with this case, you should call them or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477). Or you can visit www.crimestoppersmiami.com.

All calls are kept strictly anonymous.
