Video: Heat's Oden Introduces Himself To Boston's Jeff Green
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Each time Miami Heat center Greg Oden steps on the court, it's a success for him and the franchise.
There are also moments like Tuesday night's game against the Boston Celtics that tease just how good he could be if his knees cooperate.
It was late in the second quarter with Miami leading by seven points when Boston's Jeff Green broke free and sped towards the basket.
Oden was playing help-side defense and came across the paint to help. Green, who has posterized plenty of players, jumped and Oden did as well.
Oden's hand met the ball in Green's hand at the peak of the jump and the shot was rejected.
It was the first block for Oden since December 1, 2009. Oden finished the night with two points, one rebound, and one block in six minutes of action against the Celtics.
It's another baby step for Oden who is trying to play again after massive knee problems derailed his career.
If he can give the Heat 10-15 minutes a night in the playoffs to help defend the basket...opponents will have one less way to try to attack Miami's normally stifling defense.
