Vero Beach Feeling The Effects Of Hurricane Matthew

VERO BEACH (CBSMiami) – Vero Beach is also feeling some of the effects of Hurricane Matthew.
Most of the day had been quiet until around 11 p.m. Thursday when the winds picked up to over 45 mph.
A storm surge is what officials are most worried about now.
There are reports of flooding, tree limbs down and some power outages in Indian River County.
All of the bridges were closed at 9:00 p.m. Thursday.
The good news is most people that needed to evacuate the island have.
CBS4's Silva Harapetian is staying at the Hampton Inn off of US-1.
She said it's booked up, as are most of the hotels along US-1.
Those who couldn't actually get to the rooms have gone to the shelters, and some of them are actually full, including the pet shelters.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of any injuries.
