Venezuelan Opp. Leader To Receive Key To Doral
DORAL (CBSMiami/AP) — Doral Mayor Luigi Boria is set to present a key to the city to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado on Monday.
Machado ran in Venezuela's opposition primaries for the presidential election last year. She lost but became the national coordinator for candidate Henrique Capriles.
Capriles lost against the late President Hugo Chavez in October and has rejected the result of an April 14 presidential election narrowly won by Nicolas Maduro.
Machado recently underwent surgery on her nose, which she said was broken when political rivals threw her to the floor and kicked her in the face.
Doral has the largest population of Venezuelans outside of the South American country.
